Location
The village of Melay, with around 250 inhabitants, is characterised by its large international population (approx. 40 %). Those who wish to do so can register with an organisation that has set itself the goal of bringing people together (RMSF = Réunion Melaysains sans Frontière). Those who prefer to live in seclusion can do so undisturbed and will be respected. The village has a restaurant and bar, a post office and several maison-d'hôtes. There are shops in Jussey and Bourbonne-les-Bains, both a quarter of an hour's drive away. 200 km from Basel, on the edge of the small village of Melay (between Bourbonne-les-Bains and Jussey), stands this modern, single-storey house with its exceptional construction and fittings by local standards, as well as its beautiful, fenced and secure grounds of 9180 m2. The municipality of Melay, nestled in a picturesque landscape, can look back on a long and eventful history. The first traces of settlement can be traced back to the discovery of painted stones. Melay was first mentioned in writing in the 12th century, when it played a role in a dispute between the lords of Borbonne and the abbey of Vaux-La-Douce.
